Ali Imam Naqvi was a notable Urdu fiction writer who authored several acclaimed short story collections — including Naye Makaan Ki Deemak, Mubahilah, Ghatte Badhte Saaye, Mausam Azaabon Ka, and Kahi Unkahi — before turning to the novel form with Teen Batti Ke Rama and Bisaat. Teen Batti Ke Rama is regarded as a fine and vivid portrayal of the city of Bombay (Mumbai), capturing its light and shadow through Naqvi's storytelling. Naqvi passed away in 2014, leaving behind a body of work admired for its depiction of urban life and social realism.
