Description
Qabz-e-Zaman is a philosophical novella by Shamsur Rahman Faruqi built around the Sufi concept of "the seizing of time" — the idea that time can stretch or contract differently for different souls by divine will. Employing techniques of magic realism, the story follows its narrator, Gul Muhammad, as he journeys across different eras of subcontinental history, blending old folklore, oral tradition, and vintage textual styles into a compact, richly layered narrative on the nature of time itself. A widely studied and celebrated work from one of Urdu literature's most towering critical and creative minds.
