The Cultural Side of Islam

Description

The Cultural Side of Islam is a series of lectures by Muhammad Marmaduke Pickthall, the English scholar and translator of the Qur'an. He delivered them at Madras in January 1927 as part of the "Madras Lectures on Islam" series. The lectures describe Islamic culture and the causes of its rise and decline. They draw on quotations from the Qur'an and the Traditions of the Prophet. Other library and bookseller records list further topics: science, art and letters, the relation of the sexes, and the concept of the "City of Islam"
